| Customer Reviews: best buy for the money March 5, 2010 Carrie Thomas 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I got a similar one from Kmart before, but it looked quite weak. This is a high quality screen room with best price on the market. It takes a while to set up. The instruction is simple, so you need some time to figure out. But you only need to do this once a year. Highly recommend. This will be your sun room.
Great tent April 22, 2010 R. Ferguson (pocahontas,ar) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great screen house. Just what we were looking for. Right price. Easy to put up after a few tries.
I can't imagine anyone who didn't work for the company gave it 5 stars May 31, 2010 Paul E. King (Nashville, TN) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
They have a little chain-link between the poles that sort of pulls them together, it's pretty neat until one of the links opens up and wedges itself in the pole so you can't fit 2 of them together. While trying to extract that link it spins, releasing the chain, that was that for that chain. Cheap chain = useless neat gadget.
The poles fall apart, they do not fit snugly. I'd recommend bringing some duct tape along so you can keep the poles together while you're assembling the thing (until it's up, they will keep falling out).
It's a 2-person operation to get this thing up unless you know exactly what you're doing. Perhaps 3.
So far I'm underwhelmed. I have to use this in a week and a half and am not overly enthused. To me this appears to be average consumer-grade couple of uses then toss it tent (not for anyone who actually needs it, just for someone who wants it and will put it away for 3 years until someone borrows it and can't make heads or tales of it). I'll edit this in 2 weeks if it turns out to be significantly better, however after the dry run today failed, I'm not expecting to be able to use this without significant aggravation.
I've worked with sun tents I would give 5 stars - they're easy to use, intuitive to set up, and do not have parts that break. This is not that tent in my opinion. The fabric part, that's pretty good, the support, not so much.
--- edit
I just got back from 3 days of use with this thing - if you purchase it you should consider the following: you will need 3 or 4 8-foot lengths of rope to stabilize the structure if you're not on ideal ground (such as if you're in a cow field). You will probably want to go and purchase a new set of tent stakes that are larger as the included ones were popping out of the ground in 10-12 mile an hour winds. You will need some form of tape to keep the poles together while you are putting it up as they will fall apart on you (they do get structural integrity once the thing is up though) - I recommend thick rubber electrical tape as it peels off with no residue. You will also need 2-3 people to easily assemble the thing as a slight breeze will knock the whole thing down.
Also be aware that the shade portion of this sun tent is not 12x12, it's considerably less... the base is 12x12, the shade I think is probably 9x9. Probably not too big a thing for most people until you're 4 days camping in 100 degree weather and you've got 6 people huddled in and around it to keep out of the sun.
Flimsy screen house July 1, 2010 Monticello The tent installation was tested during a sudden downpour. Fortunately, it was not windy. The poles do not stay together, most of the elastic cables had already snapped inside one pole or the other and were intractable. The structure seems unstable once set-up and I am sure not much more than a puff of wind would knock the whole thing over. We had four people helping put this tent up, and it still was not easy.
After viewing the Coleman tent at Costco, I can see that their screen tent looks to be far more stable for only a little more money.
ARBOR SUN ROOM July 22, 2010 DLAURETTO I cannot believe your list price of $299. This screen house is extremly poor quality. The poles are weak and the whole structure cannot take any wind without bending the poles. The links in the poles are bad. They break easily and cannot be repaired. The poles do not stay together when putting the unit up.(recommend tapping). Probable would be better priced at $29.95. I would think twice about buying another arbor product again.
