5 out of 5 stars Layer Your Sleeping Gear Too   December 6, 2009

I keep one of these in my backpack as a secondary bag on every hike and campout. It doesn't take much space or add much weight, and often makes the difference between a sound sleep and a miserable night. If the weather is really warm, I sleep in this bag, with my regular bag as an extra pad. If it is really cold, I am fully zipped up in this bag inside my regular bag.

It is the same layering principle that keeps you safe and warm in outdoor clothing, and it works just as well. I frequently wake up halfway in the middle of the night and adjust the layers, as the night gets colder or the tent gets warmer -- just as I wake up and adjust my covers at home in bed.

Note the rectangular shape. It will still work in a mummy, but it might get crowded around your feet. If that doesn't bother you, great. My main sleeping bag is only a 20 degree rectangular cheapie (which is probably about a 45 degree bag,) so the rectangular shape of this bag fits in it easily. Last winter, I slept alone in a tent at eight degrees F with this and my regular bag and no pad. That was honestly too cold for this combo with no pad, but if I had had either the pad or a better bag than the cheapie as my main bag, I would have been comfortable. As it was, I was okay, but was not comfortable. Without this bag as a liner, I would have been in serious trouble.

I'll never go camping without this bag again.

5 out of 5 stars Light and compact sleeping bag   December 5, 2009

Me and my girlfriend bought two of these for backpacking in Hawaii early next year. Both of them zipped together can fit into a single sleeping bag stuff sack. They are comfortable and seem well made. They are lightweight, we probably won't be using them up here in Alaska, except as throw blankets in the living room, but you can't buy a 60 degree rated sleeping bag and expect to do winter camping in it. There is a little pouch near the top to keep some gear handy, keep an mp3 player, or flashlight from wandering too far away while you're dreaming. I don't know what else someone could expect for the price; hence top marks.

5 out of 5 stars Sleeping Bag   February 21, 2010

The quality of this sleeping bag is very good. You can't beat the price. Gave away as a gift, so I have to buy another one for myself.

5 out of 5 stars Rating is about right. Can not do better for the money.   April 14, 2010

+60 is about right I'd say, maybe even a little high. It's a lot of product for the money and you can't find a fleece bag made better for cheaper. The ones at walmart, etc are just fleece. This one has a shell over the fleece like a traditional sleeping bag.

5 out of 5 stars Almost perfect   June 8, 2010

These bags are a fabulous bargain. Great for keeping in the trunk for picnic or other activity. They also zip together making one large bag. The stitching, zipper, materials seem to be of good quality though admittedly i have only used them thus far on three occasions. For me the bag would be perfect if it had a nylon taffeta type inner fabric rather than fleece for sleeping bag use, other uses the fleece is fine.
